Blue poppy seeds: Market participants raise expectations

CHRUDIM. Later this week, the Czech Statistical Office is due to publish their updated crop forecast for blue poppy seed production in 2019.

30,000 mt of poppy seeds possible
The Czech poppy seed crop continues to develop very well and farmers and traders are optimistic about the 2019 crop result. Market participants are currently assuming that around 35,000-36,000 ha of land were sown for the Czech poppy seed crop in 2019. With an average yield, the crop would be more than 28,000 mt. Under ideal weather conditions, production could even rise to around 30,000 mt.
