Blue poppy seeds: Last chance for low priced new crop

CHRUDIM. The favourable prices for which distributors offer blue poppy seeds from the 2018 crop will not last for more than a few days. After this, buyers have to adjust to significant price increases.

No cure for rising prices?
Export prices are affected by depletion of the remaining stock and higher prices for raw material. Prices for Czech blue poppy seeds have risen, to 2.35 EUR /kg FCA Czech Republic or 2.39 EUR/kg DDP Germany.

The blue poppy seeds from the 2018 crop were traded at 1.60–1.70 EUR/kg FCA over the last few weeks; however, buyers can only conclude contracts at these prices until mid-March (new-harvest availability up to June 2019).
