MALATYA. For the Turkish dried apricot market, Russia still remains the most promising candidate, other than that, the market is hardly demonstrating any development.

Stable in the long term
After the price crash in the last few weeks, the level has stabilised again for now. Since there are hardly any requests for prompt deliveries and many buyers are covered by long-term contracts, market players are not ruling out a further drop by 50-100 USD/mt. The production outlook is comparable to 2016, but unlike for sultanas, there are still no offers for commodities from the 2017 crop.

Russia is disappointed
Meanwhile, more than 71,000 mt have been exported, that is about 11% more than last year at this time. Because of the unexpected restraint of Russian importers and despite the good availability this season, the export values cannot fulfil the hopes of the market.
