MALATYA. Market players report that stocks are running low, which render purchases very difficult.

After the price increase in the last few weeks, the prices have nevertheless stabilised for now. The first offers the new crop should be available in one or two weeks. Deliveries should start at the beginning of August. Since, however, a production of more than 140,000 mt is expected, prices are likely to decline in the long run. Traders are still holding back and prefer to observe further developments on the market.

Cost-benefit calculation

Since the beginning of the season more than 81,000 mt have been exported. Traders report that only a few tons of organic apricots are still available, and the new season's production is not expected to be that big. A trader explained that the effort required by farmers to produce dried organic apricots is hardly worthwhile, so that they rather settle for what they can earn with growing conventional apricots.
