Apricots: Russia likes little fruits

MALATYA. The current price development on the Turkish apricot market should be only temporary, traders report.

Actually, dried apricots are being offered at a significantly lower price than last week. This is supposed to have been primarily due to the exchange rate. As soon as the Turkish Lira has stabilised once more, the price level should increase again.

Europeans like it bigger
European buyers prefer the large dried apricots, while Russian buyers are mainly interested in the smaller variety, which is why prices for no. 8 apricots alone were not reduced in price since last week.

The year comes to an end
Turkish traders hardly receive any inquiries for prompt delivery anymore at the moment, because the last deliveries for this year will be made by mid-December. Business will resume again in 2017. The development of exports since the beginning of the season is good and exceeds those of the last year at the same time by about 2,450 mt.
