Experts are reckoning with a 24% smaller apricot crop in Turkey this year. In Malatya, the main production region for dried apricots, acreage is to remain stable, but yields are to drop by 40% as compared. Instead of the 140,000-150,000 mt produced last year, this year’s production is set to drop to as little 81,000 mt. Around 8,500 mt of dried apricots will be produced in other regions, according to official sources.
