MALATYA. Raised eyebrows over the current price level for dried apricots. Suppliers in Turkey have already readjusted their prices to accommodate the new season.

About 672,000 mt of fresh apricots should be harvested in Turkey this year. Only as little as 50,000 mt will, however, be consumed. The remaining 622,000 mt will be dried, resulting in a dried apricot production of about 140,000 mtr.

Small fruits

The summer holiday season has begun in Europe. To keep trade activities going over the next few weeks, the first exporters have already adjusted their offers to the price level of the 2017/18 season, which begins on 1 August. This has caused prices to decline by at least 200 USD/mt since last week. Due to the high yields, this year’s fruits are smaller. This has caused the prices, particularly for dried apricots no. 4 and smaller, to drop by as much as 600 USD/mt compared to last week.
