Almonds: heat stress has consequences

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. According to current reports, Spain's almond crop will be significantly smaller than previously expected. The reason is the heat and drought of the past months. Meanwhile, Australia can again report good export results.

Almond crop significantly lower

Due to the weather conditions, Spanish almond farmers started harvesting three weeks earlier than planned. As recently as June, production was estimated at more than 120,000 mt of shelled almonds. However, the first yield results give reason to fear that these forecasts cannot be fulfilled.
