Almonds: A difficult year ahead

That is because the year has been substantially weaker for the almonds, as well.
As a large producer of organic almonds said “After cracking the shell, I see that the kernel is there. However, the kernel of 2016 is not as well rounded as the kernel of 2015. The taste is as delicious as ever, but what troubles me is the fact that clients’ perceptions are influenced by the not so well matured kernels. It is not all overboard, but still, it has an impact on buyers!” The reason for that? Lack of favorable weather conditions after the blossoming period of the trees. As a result, the current marketable quantity will be too meager to fill in the ever increasing gap between supply and demand for organic and conventional almonds. For many years, it has become a standard by now, the gap between supply and demand to be filled in by imports, usually from distant countries such as USA.
There are approximately ten varieties of Bulgarian grown almonds in the country, but the following ones are widely cultivated: Nonpareil, Asparuh, Start, Primorski and Nikitski.
